ShotTrail records where and when every shot in your round happens — so your scorecard, your distances and your statistics come out of the round itself, not out of a notebook.

Why golfers use ShotTrail

Every shot where you hit it

ShotTrail tracks in the background, so the position is already captured when you tap. Hit the ball, tap Arm, and that exact spot is held however long it takes to walk up and log the shot. Distances are measured, not estimated.

A caddie that knows your distances

ShotTrail Caddie learns how far you hit each club from your own logged rounds, then tells you the distance to your next target and which club matches it — wind-adjusted, if you want it.

Pay once

Your first 10 rounds are free. After that, one purchase lifts the limit for good — no subscription, nothing renews, and nothing you've already recorded is ever locked.

Statistics that name the problem

Greens, fairways, putting, scrambling, driving and penalties — measured against what's typical for your scoring level, ending in the one thing costing you the most strokes, and a drill for it.

Your data stays on your phone

No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no third-party SDKs at all. Backups go to your own iCloud Drive, in a file you can read.

Your course, even if nobody mapped it

Import a course from OpenStreetMap, or simply play a round on it and let ShotTrail draw the holes from your own shots.

How a round works

  1. Start a round

Pick your course and you're on the first tee. There's no account to create and no sign-up — ShotTrail has never asked for one.

  2. Tap when you hit

Log Shot records where you're standing and the club you're about to use. Arm holds the spot the moment the ball leaves the clubface. Then the phone goes back in your pocket — or stays there, and you use the watch.

  3. See what actually happened

Your round drawn hole by hole on the map, every shot's real distance, a scorecard, the photos you took while you played — and statistics that get sharper with every round.

What's in the app

On the course

  • Shot distances measured from your own positions, in metres or yards
  • ShotTrail Caddie: the distance to your target and the club that matches it
  • Green Zone — walk up to the green and it picks Green and Putter for you
  • Course Guide: every hole tee to green, with a distance on each leg
  • Shot Plan: drag landing points down the hole, tap one to aim at it
  • Planned against actual landing position, so you can see your aim deviation
  • Live wind on the map, and folded into the club suggestion if you want it
  • Penalties logged as they happen, each with its stroke count and a link to the rule
  • Pick up a hole, play a provisional, or fix a hole while you're still on it
  • Apple Watch: Arm, Log Shot, the shot list, the scorecard and the Caddie

After the round

  • Your round on satellite imagery, shot by shot, walking drawn separately
  • A scorecard with penalty strokes, and picked-up holes kept out of the sums
  • Greens, fairways, putts per green hit, scrambling, sand saves, driving
  • Trend arrows against the rounds just before — green whenever you improve
  • Strengths & Weaknesses: what is costing you strokes, and a drill for it
  • Per-hole averages across every round you've played, worst holes first
  • Per-club minimum, average and maximum distance, with every shot behind it
  • Round photos found by time and place, captioned with hole and direction
  • An A4 PDF round report with your photos, saved into Files
  • Rounds filed in Apple Health as Golf workouts — with heart rate when the watch is recording

Your courses

  • Import from OpenStreetMap — search nearby or by country, with par, stroke index and length filled in
  • Or build the holes from a round you've already played there
  • Edit anything by hand: par, stroke index, length, waypoints
  • Attach the scorecard, the course map or a tee sign, one tap from the hole
  • Every course says exactly which base information it's still missing

Getting going

  • A checklist that ticks itself off from your real data, not from being tapped
  • A course needs only a name and 9 or 18 holes before you can play it
  • The full manual is inside the app, so it works with no signal

Your data

  • No account, no sign-up, no servers of ours, no analytics, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs
  • Weather is a coordinate and a date sent to Open-Meteo; a course search is a coordinate and a radius sent to OpenStreetMap. Your rounds are sent nowhere
  • An automatic backup to your own iCloud Drive after every round
  • Backups survive deleting the app, and a reinstall offers to restore one
  • Photos are never copied or uploaded — ShotTrail stores a reference to yours
  • Logging shots, keeping score and your statistics need no network at all

Pay once, then play

Your first 10 rounds are free. After that, starting a new round needs a one-time purchase called Unlimited Rounds: pay once, nothing renews, and it covers every device signed in to your Apple Account.

Rounds you've already saved are never locked, hidden or deleted — whether you buy or not — and every other feature works exactly the same either way.

  • 10 rounds free
  • One purchase
  • No subscription

Ready to play smarter?

ShotTrail is in final testing before release. The beta runs on TestFlight, and there are places open for golfers willing to play real rounds with it — different courses and different handicaps most of all.

Join the beta

Say where you usually play and roughly what you play off, and a TestFlight invitation comes back. Apple needs an email address to send it — that's TestFlight, not a ShotTrail account, and the app itself still asks for nothing.

Coming to the App Store
